Jim Vrchota has joined the team at Merchants Bank as Vice President and Commercial Banker, according to Randy Domeyer, Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Department Manager

“We are excited to have Jim join our team in Winona,” Domeyer said. “His experience in business development and lending will benefit our customers and our lending team here at Merchants Bank.”

Vrchota has more than 33 years of experience in the banking industry, much of it as a Senior Lender and Market President. Most recently he served as Senior Vice President at United Prairie Bank in Spicer, Minnesota, where he worked in commercial and ag lending. Vrchota also has a great deal of experience in SBA (Small Business Administration) lending.

“I am happy to be a part of a banking organization that has such a tremendous reputation for helping its customers meet their goals,” Vrchota said. “I look forward to becoming a part of the Winona community.”

Vrchota has a long history of community involvement, especially in the areas of economic development and community service.

In addition, Jim was a Bank President/Team Lead for Anchor Bank for six years. Most recently, Jim was the Chief Operating Officer for BDS Laundry Services. Jim is happy to be back in banking and at Merchants Bank.

 

MonfreJasonJason Monfre has joined Merchants Bank as a Mortgage Lender in Rochester. Jason was recently a full-time student and worked at the Charter House at the Mayo Clinic. He also previously worked at America One Finance as a Branch Manager/Owner and at Ameriquest Mortgage as an Account Executive. Jason loves sports (basketball, football, and baseball) and played baseball in college for the Indiana Hoosiers and the Minnesota Gophers. Jason loves to play guitar and sing, especially with his one year old son.  He is originally from Milwaukee, WI and is a big Brewers and Packer fan.

ShannonTriciaTricia Shannon has joined Merchants Bank as a Part-Time Teller in Caledonia. Tricia previously worked at Alco as a Group Manager for ten years. She lives in Caledonia with her five daughters, grandson and four cats. To relax she enjoys crocheting.

Merchants Bank Hires New Information Technology Leader

Rodney Nelsestuen has joined Merchants Bank as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

Rodney Nelsestuen has joined Merchants Bank as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, according to Sue Savat, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

“Rodney’s expertise in planning, implementing and managing technology services will be a benefit to our customers. With his leadership, Merchants will focus on technology that best fits the needs of our customers and company operations,” said Savat.

Nelsestuen has been in the financial services industry for his entire career, including most recently at Eastwood Bank as the Vice President of Information Technology. He also has experience as a consultant for global financial institutions and technology companies.

“Merchants’ top priority is customer service and satisfaction. I look forward to contributing to that culture of service by bringing a sharper focus to technology services and the Information Technology team,” said Nelsestuen.

Nelsestuen graduated first in his class from the Graduate School of Banking in Madison. He holds a graduate certificate in Information Systems Management from the Keller Graduate School of DeVry University in Milwaukee and Chicago and a Master of Fine Arts from Hamline University in St. Paul. He received his Master in Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School and his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Massett Named Merchants Bank Regional President for Cannon Falls, Red Wing and Hampton

Red Wing financial leader Dan Massett has been named the new Regional President for Merchants Bank in Cannon Falls, Red Wing and Hampton, according to Merchants Bank President and Chief Banking Officer Greg Evans. Massett started his new position April 2.

“We’re excited to expand the depth of our leadership team with somebody who has significant familiarity with the markets of this important region and strong leadership experience,” Evans said.

Massett comes to Merchants Bank from Associated Bank in Red Wing, where he has been Community Bank President and had Regional Team Leadership responsibility for Business Banking with Associated, including oversight of markets in western Wisconsin, part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area and Rochester.

“Working with the leadership group, they gave me the feeling that Merchants is a strong community bank, and that’s where I feel I belong,” Massett said. “With nearly 25 years in banking, I bring a variety of banking experience to the table. My goal is to add value to every experience I have with customers.”

Massett grew up in Red Wing, graduating from Red Wing High School in 1987. He earned a degree in Organizational Management from Gustavus Adolphus College and began his banking career as a Business Banker with Norwest Bank in 1991, working with the organization as it transitioned to Wells Fargo. In 1998 he moved back to Red Wing to work for the Jones family at Goodhue County National Bank, which became Signal Bank. He has been with that Bank in Red Wing through the transition to Associated and until now.

Massett is committed to community banking and providing community leadership. Dan currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Jones Family Foundation, the Red Wing YMCA (Treasurer) and the Every Hand Joined Partner Table, a collective impact/community-wide initiative to enhance educational outcomes in Red Wing. He is a past Board member for the Red Wing Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Panel for Economic Development, the Red Wing Chamber of Commerce, and the Red Wing Port Authority. He has been active in the Red Wing Athletic Association and the United Way for Goodhue/Wabasha/Pierce Counties.

Massett will have offices in both Cannon Falls and Red Wing. Evans has been Merchants Bank’s President and Chief Banking Officer for all 21 locations since January 1. He had also continued his role as Regional President for Cannon Falls, Red Wing and Hampton until Massett’s hiring.

Matthew Schuldt Named President at Merchants Bank in Caledonia and Spring Grove

CALEDONIA/SPRING GROVE, Minn. – Caledonia native Matthew Schuldt has been appointed Market President for Merchants Bank in Caledonia and Spring Grove, according to Merchants Bank’s Southern Region President Jay Friedl.

Schuldt served as Interim President of First Community Bank in Lester Prairie, Minn., and also worked in other roles at the bank, including Vice President of Lending, working with consumer, agriculture and commercial lending customers.

“Matt’s experience will serve our Caledonia and Spring Grove customers very well as he helps them find the solution that is best for their individual needs,” Friedl said.

In addition to his experience at First Community Bank, Schuldt also spent eight years working with Eide Bailly, a public accounting and business advisory firm. He also volunteers as a youth wrestling coach.

“I’m excited to be a part of an organization so well thought of by community bankers throughout the state. Certainly, Merchants has the resources that make it possible to finance almost any sort of loan, but the strength of the organization is how it treats each customer like that person is the Bank’s only customer,” Schuldt said.

Schuldt started his new position in Caledonia and Spring Grove on February 24.

Jeff Carter Joins Merchants Bank in Cottage Grove as Vice President and Business Banker

COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. – Jeff Carter has joined the team at Merchants Bank’s Cottage Grove location as a Vice President and Business Banker. He will lead the team in Cottage Grove, according to Twin Cities Regional President Lawrence Stovern.

“Jeff’s experience and ability will be a tremendous asset to our customers, our staff and business owners throughout the area,” Stovern said “He has a great understanding of commercial, consumer and SBA loans.”

Carter has more than 15 years of banking experience, including time at TCF Bank in Bloomington, and most recently at Drake Bank in St. Paul. He has a great deal of expertise in commercial and SBA loans.

“My knowledge will allow me to look closely at a business and suggest the best course of action that business can take for financing,” Carter said. “I look forward to continuing to help businesses achieve their goals, and to continuing to help our community grow through being involved.”

Carter recently completed his course work at the Graduate School of Banking in Colorado. He is a member of the Neighborhood Economic Development Association (NeDA) of St. Paul and the West St. Paul Kiwanis Club. He has a long history of working with and volunteering his time with community organizations.
