Merchants Bank Offers Money Ball at Red Wing High School Basketball Games

Red Wing area students will have a chance during the 2015-2016 high school basketball season to earn prizes with Merchants Bank’s Money Ball.

Money Ball will be offered at two boy’s games: December 11 vs. Mankato West and February 6 vs. Austin. Money Ball will also be offered at two girl’s games: January 22 vs. Rochester Century and January 29 vs Albert Lea.

At each game, one student will be chosen at the 1st-5th grade level, and one student will be chosen at the 6th-12th grade level. Students will sign up before each game and be chosen before halftime.

If the student makes both the lay-up and free throw in the time allotted, the student will have one attempt at a three-point shot. The student wins $5 for a lay-up, $10 for a free throw and $25 for a three-pointer. If a three-pointer is not made, the money will roll over to the next game.

For the 6th-12th graders, the chosen student will have one minute to try as many times as needed to make a free throw and a three-point shot. The student must make the free throw before attempting the three-point shot. The student wins $10 for the free throw, $25 for the three-point shot and $100 for the half-court shot. If a half-court shot is not made, the money rolls over to the next game.

Merchants Bank will match the money won by the students with a donation to the Red Wing Booster Club.

Boy Scouts of America Troop 55 is the Top Vote Getter in 5-4-5

Teresa Fegyak, Customer Service Representative at Merchants Bank in Spring Grove

The Boy Scouts of America Troop 55 was the top vote getter in voting to determine which Spring Grove area nonprofit organizations will be featured each month in Merchants Bank in Spring Grove.

The Boy Scouts received 281 votes and will be the featured organization during May at Merchants Bank in Spring Grove. Merchants Bank will match up to $200 in donations made to the Boy Scouts at the Bank.

“We believe giving back to the nonprofit organizations that make our community such a unique place to live is the most fitting way to celebrate our fifth anniversary in Spring Grove,” said Teresa Fegyak, who is coordinating the event for Merchants Bank.

During April, area residents were able to place votes for their favorite nonprofit organization at the Bank and on Merchants Bank’s Facebook page.  The top five organizations will be featured by the Bank each month, May through September, and will each be eligible to receive up to $200 in matching funds. The other organizations to be featured will be:

June: Bluff Country Gathering, 229 votes
July: Gundersen Tweeten Care Center, 237 votes
August: Houston County 4-H, 115 votes
September: Spring Grove Volunteer Fire Department, 114 votes

Merchants will also sponsor a celebratory event for all area nonprofit organizations in the Spring Grove lobby at 4:15 p.m. on October 5.

140 for 140: Helping Businesses and Communities for 140 Years

In 2015, we honor our commitment to the communities we serve with the 140 for 140 campaign, which highlights a minimum of 140 contributions we make to those communities in the form of volunteer time, education programs, event sponsorships and more.

Merchants Bank was founded July 17, 1875. Since our beginning, we have grown to 21 locations serving 18 communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. A number of our locations will also be celebrating significant anniversaries with the Merchants Bank organization in 2015: St. Charles (25 years), Apple Valley, Hastings, Hampton and Cottage Grove (15 years), Lakeville (10 years), and Spring Grove (5 years).

Since our first day, our employees have been dedicated to improving the communities they serve. We are proud to celebrate those contributions this year.

Students Can Win With Merchants Bank Money Ball in St. Charles

Two area students will each have a chance to win a $100 Merchants Bank Visa Gift Card by making a half-court shot at half-time of the St. Charles boy’s basketball game against Rushford-Peterson on Friday, January 16.

Students will be able to register up until half-time of the game and then will be chosen randomly to take part. To qualify to take the half-court shot, the students will have to make a free-throw and a three-point shot.

“This should be great fun for the students and should also benefit our athletic programs,” said Mark Linderbaum of Merchants Bank in St. Charles.

If a student makes the free throw, three-point shot and the half-court shot, the student will be presented with a certificate to redeem for a Merchants Bank Visa Gift Card. Funds up to $200 not won by the students will be donated to the St. Charles athletic programs.
